PH 3½-3 Pendant

The PH 3½–3 Glass Pendant is one of the most sophisticated expressions of the three-shade system developed by Poul Henningsen in 1926. Throughout his career, Henningsen was dedicated to mastering electric light, striving to create fixtures that delivered optimal illumination without glare.
His three-shade system was based on the principles of the logarithmic spiral, allowing the lamp to make the most efficient use of the light source. Through continuous testing and precise calculations, Henningsen shaped each shade to reflect and distribute light evenly, ensuring a balanced and comfortable lighting experience.
The PH 3½–3 Glass Pendant features white opal glass shades that soften the lamp’s appearance while providing harmonious, glare-free illumination. This characteristic light quality is a hallmark of the three-shade system, combining functional precision with a warm and inviting atmosphere.
The shades are crafted from mouth-blown, triple-layer opal glass, finished with a glossy exterior and a sandblasted matte underside. This combination ensures a gentle, uniform diffusion of light, enhancing both visual comfort and the surrounding space.
 
Light concept
 
The fixture is designed based on the principle of a reflective three-shade system, which directs the majority of the light downwards. The shades are made of mouth-blown opal three-layer glass, which is glossy on top and sandblasted matt on the underside, giving a soft and uniform light distribution.
