PH 5

Poul Henningsen (1894–1967) created the PH 5 pendant lamp in 1958 with the goal of capturing the feeling of the “golden hour” while eliminating glare from light bulbs.
The result was a versatile lamp that quickly became a Danish design icon. Using his three-shade system, the PH 5 distributes light both downward and sideways, creating a soft, glare-free glow.
The original colored inner shades improved light quality but were later removed as lighting technology advanced. Despite this, the design has retained its iconic status.
Today, the PH 5 comes in many colors and variations, including smaller versions, and remains a timeless classic in lighting design.
