PH 4/3 Table Lamp
Poul Henningsen developed the three-shade system in 1925–1926 with Louis Poulsen, aiming to create glare-free light with soft shadows. Based on the logarithmic spiral, the system ensures even light distribution and controlled illumination.
The PH 4/3 Table is part of this extensive system, which includes a wide range of table, floor, wall lamps, and chandeliers in various sizes and finishes. Originally made with metal shades, later versions introduced glass to provide both downward and ambient light.
The PH numbering system reflects shade sizes. The PH 4/3 Table is a hybrid model, combining a larger top shade (approx. 40 cm) with smaller lower shades, allowing for balanced light and versatile placement. The design in its current form was introduced in 1966.
Light concept
The fixture is designed based on the principle of a reflective three-shade system, which directs the light downwards. The shades are made of metal and painted white to ensure diffused, comfortable light distribution.
