PH 3½-3 Metal Pendant
To mark the 120th anniversary of Poul Henningsen on 9 September, Louis Poulsen introduced the PH 3½-3 pendant, a design rooted in Henningsen’s original drawings from the late 1920s and early 1930s and built around his iconic three-shade system; the pendant features metal shades available in green, yellow, red and white, combined with a silk-matte brown fixture housing made of copper, with all colours drawn from Henningsen’s distinctive colour universe, resulting in a vibrant yet balanced expression, and as a refined detail each shade is finished with a white painted rolled edge that highlights the familiar three-shade silhouette and enhances its visual symmetry, while the shades themselves are pressed at Louis Poulsen’s factory in Vejen by specially trained craftsmen, preserving a rare and highly skilled production technique; despite being based on a design more than 80 years old, the fixture feels both modern and timeless, making it suitable for a wide variety of interiors, where it is appreciated for its charming, slightly rustic and unpretentious character, and as a piece of Danish lighting design history it offers both functional and decorative illumination, elevating a space whether switched on or off, and working equally well as a standalone statement or arranged in groups.
Light concept
The fixture is 100% glare-free, with a design based on the principle of a reflective three-shade system, which directs most of the light downwards. The shades are made of deepdrawn aluminium with white inner surface that ensures gentle, downward light distribution. The downward light is both soft and pleasant.
