Kado

The name Kado brings together two evocative Japanese concepts: 角 (kado), meaning angle or corner, and 華道 (kadō), the art of flower arrangement. This dual reference is reflected in an essential composition where proportion, presence and negative space are carefully balanced.

Inspired by ikebana, Kado reimagines the vase as a form of silent architecture—an object that guides the gesture while providing a considered setting for the floral arrangement. Its surfaces are articulated through measured planes and subtle inclinations, creating sculptural volumes defined by restrained geometry.

In dialogue with the Murano glassmaking tradition, Kado places light at the heart of its design. As it passes through the glass, light reveals layers, depth and subtle chromatic variations, giving each form a shifting and dynamic presence.

The collection is presented as a set of tall and low vases, each distinguished by its own treatment of light. The tall vase is crafted using the incamiciato technique, creating a carefully calibrated depth between its inner and outer layers, while its satin finish softly diffuses the light. The low vase is finished using moleria, creating a more open and diffused expression as light spreads gently across its surface.

Kado maintains a precise balance between geometric rigour and compositional sensitivity, creating a quiet dialogue between density and lightness. Both functional and sculptural, the collection allows the flower to complete the composition.
