AJ Mini Table Lamp

The AJ Mini Table lamp was originally designed in 1957 by Danish architect and designer Arne Jacobsen for the iconic SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. As with many of Jacobsen’s projects, the hotel was conceived as a total design, where he created not only the building but also much of its interior—including the lighting.
The lamp emits a comfortable, downward-directed light, enhanced by its white-painted inner shade. Its adjustable head allows the user to tilt the shade and direct the light as needed, making it both functional and versatile.
The AJ lamp family is widely regarded as one of Jacobsen’s most iconic and recognizable designs. Originally, the collection included a table lamp, floor lamp, wall lamp, and a table-mounted version—all of which were used throughout the SAS Royal Hotel when it opened in 1960.
In 2020, Louis Poulsen reintroduced the AJ Mini Table lamp to mark the 60th anniversary of the hotel. As part of this celebration—and in keeping with Jacobsen’s original vision—the AJ lamps were also made available once again in their elegant stainless steel versions.
Today, the AJ Mini Table remains a timeless design piece. Its compact size makes it ideal for windowsills, bookcases, or small tables, where it delivers high-quality, glare-free lighting with a refined architectural aesthetic.
 
 
Light concept
 
The fixture emits downward directed light. The angle of the screen can be adjusted approximately 90 degrees up and down to optimize light distribution. The shade is painted white on the inside to ensure a soft comfortable light.
