PH 4½-3½ Table Lamp

PH 4½-3½ Table Lamp

3.710,00 €Preis

Poul Henningsen developed the three-shade system in 1925–1926, with the first lamps created in collaboration with Louis Poulsen for an exhibition in Paris, marking the start of a long partnership that lasted until 1967; his goal was to create glare-free lighting with soft shadows and precise light direction, and the PH 4½-3½ Glass Table is part of this broader system, which over time expanded into around a thousand variations across table, floor, wall and ceiling lamps as well as chandeliers, using early painted metal shades and later glass to control both direct and ambient light, while the logarithmic spiral ensured even light distribution and reduced glare; the numbering reflects shade sizes, with hybrid models such as the PH 4½-3½ combining a larger top shade of approximately 45 cm with smaller lower shades, and this version was introduced in 1990 as a continuation of Henningsen’s lighting system.

Light concept

The fixture is designed based on the principle of a reflective three-shade system, which directs the majority of the light downwards. The shades are made of mouth-blown opal three-layer glass, which is glossy on top and sandblasted matt on the underside, giving a soft and diffused light distribution.
