PH 3/2 Aged Brass Opal Table Lamp
Poul Henningsen developed the System PH in 1926, laying the foundation for hundreds of lamps designed to achieve unmatched lighting quality for a wide range of purposes. The following year, he introduced the PH 3/2 variant together with Louis Poulsen. Many of Henningsen’s lamp designs use numbers that refer to the relative sizes of the shades.
The PH 3/2 is considered a “hybrid” sized luminaire, combining a top shade of approximately 30 cm with proportionally smaller lower shades derived from the PH 2/2 model. This construction produces soft, balanced, and glare-free lighting.
The lamp is ideal for placement on a table, dresser, or windowsill, where it creates a focused “island of light” and a warm atmosphere. The design helped set new standards for effective and comfortable table lighting.
Light concept
The PH 3/2 Aged Brass Opal Table Lamp is based on Poul Henningsen’s reflective three-shade system. It’s characterised by its aged brass top shade and white-painted inner side, providing pleasing downward-directed, glare-free illumination. The middle and lower shades are crafted from three-layered, mouth-blown opal white glass, which is glossy outside and sandblasted matte on the inner side and provides a softer, more uniform light distribution, creating further ambience.
