PH 2/2 Question Mark Pale Rose Table Lamp
Originally designed in 1931 by Poul Henningsen, the PH 2/2 Question Mark Table Lamp is based on his iconic three-shade system, known as System PH. Its three mouth-blown glass shades are carefully arranged to provide soft, glare-free illumination.
The lamp takes its name from the elegant curve of its stem, resembling a question mark, and features an adjustable head that can rotate up to 45 degrees to direct light precisely where needed. This combination of sculptural form and functional flexibility gives the lamp its distinctive character.
Until the mid-1950s, the design was produced in brass and offered with coloured glass shades in amber, red, and yellow, alongside the classic opal glass. Reflecting Henningsen’s fascination with the interplay of colour and light, the PH 2/2 Question Mark Pale Rose Table Lamp was later introduced as a contemporary interpretation of the original design.
Light concept
The fixture has been designed on the principle of a reflecting multi-shade system, emitting a glare-free, downward directed light, while radiating a pleasantly delicate glow. The shades are made of mouth-blown four-layer pale rose opal glass, which is glossy on top and sandblasted matt opal white on the underside, providing a soft and uniform light distribution. The adjustable upper part of the lamp can be tilted 45 degrees to the right or left by turning the handle on the middle of the arm.
