PH 2/1 Pendant

PH 2/1 Pendant

730,00 €Preis

Poul Henningsen developed the three-shade system in 1925–1926 with Louis Poulsen for an exhibition in Paris. His goal was to create glare-free, comfortable lighting that directed illumination where needed while producing soft shadows. Using the logarithmic spiral, he achieved an even distribution of light across the shades.

The PH 2/1 Pendant is part of this system, which has evolved into a large family of designs, including table, floor, wall lamps, and chandeliers in various sizes and finishes. Early versions featured metal shades with painted interiors to control light tone, while later glass shades allowed both downward and ambient illumination.

The PH system is based on proportional shade sizes. The PH 2/1 is a hybrid model, combining a larger top shade with smaller lower shades, making it especially suitable for lower mounting heights while maintaining balanced, glare-free light.

Light concept

The fixture is designed based on the principle of a reflective three-shade system, which directs the majority of the light downwards. The shades are made of mouth-blown opal three-layer glass, which is glossy on top and sandblasted matt on the underside, giving a soft and uniform light distribution.
